Kathy Rick's PledgePage
Hi! My name is Kathy Rick and I live in the Dallas area. I'm currently in training for the Maui Marathon in mid-Sept. I'm walking for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by participating in the Team in Training program. (http://www.teamintraining.org)
It is my goal to raise $4800 dollars, not only raising money for a truly worthy cause, but also to get myself in better health. An estimated 106,200 people in the United States were diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2003. Today 670,950 Americans are currently living with leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma. Although the survival rate has dramatically increased due to ongoing research and development, every nine minutes, another child or adult is expected to die from leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. This statistic represents 158 people each day - seven people every hour. Leukemias are the leading fatal cancers in young men and women under age 20. Please take a moment to make a donation to this worthy cause. Please feel free to leave a message in my guestbook and let me know this cause is as important to you as it is to me. Most of us have been touched to some degree or other by these horrible and deadly diseases. Also, feel free to bookmark my page here as I keep a diary of how my training is going and as I add pictures. The picture here is of myself and my faithful walking partner, Kyra. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon! |
